1) Using this website

By browsing or submitting forms on carma.co.nz, you accept these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

The service is currently Auckland, Tauranga and Hamilton-only. Content is for NZ residents and NZ vehicles.

We may change these Terms at any time by updating this page. Material changes will be sign-posted on the site.

When you submit a form, you confirm:

the information you provide is true, accurate and not misleading;

you’re the owner or have authority to act for the owner;

All content, logos and design on the site belong to Carma (or our licensors). Don’t copy, reproduce or alter anything without written permission.

5) Third-party links & tools

We use reputable providers (hosting, analytics, payments/comms, InfoAgent, etc.). External sites have their own terms and privacy. We’re not responsible for their content or practices.

Privacy Policy (NZ)

We follow the Privacy Act 2020 and the NZ Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).

6) What we collect

What you give us

Vehicle details you enter (rego, make/model, year, kms, condition, notes, photos)

Comms preferences and messages

What we get automatically

Device, browser, IP, pages viewed, and interactions (via cookies/analytics)

Campaign/advertising identifiers (e.g., GCLID, FBCLID) for attribution

What we obtain from trusted sources

With your rego, we may pull vehicle attributes (make/model/variant, year, VIN where available) via InfoAgent and run PPSR/security-interest checks to verify ownership and help with valuation and fraud prevention.

7) Why we collect it (purposes)

To assess your vehicle and contact you about a potential purchase

To run identity/ownership/finance checks (e.g., PPSR) and meet legal/AML obligations

To improve the website and our campaigns (analytics/attribution)

With your consent, to send occasional updates/service notices

Lawful grounds: performance of a contract (or steps before it), legitimate interests (operating a safe and efficient purchase process), consent (e.g., non-essential cookies/marketing), and compliance with NZ law.

8) Sharing your information

We share data only as needed with:

Service providers (hosting, CRM/email like Campaign Monitor, analytics, ad platforms for attribution, cloud storage) under confidentiality/processing terms

InfoAgent and similar data providers for vehicle/ownership checks

Banks and lenders to settle finance where applicable

Authorities where required by law (e.g., Waka Kotahi notifications)

We don’t sell personal information.

9) Storage, security & international transfer

Data is stored in NZ and/or reputable cloud regions (e.g., AU/US/EU) with access controls and encryption at rest/in transit where supported. Some providers may process data overseas under standard safeguards (contractual clauses, access controls). No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10) Retention

Enquiries and related records: generally up to 24 months (or longer if you sell to us, for legal/transaction records).

Analytics/advertising identifiers: follow provider defaults or our internal retention rules (typically 14–26 months).
We delete or anonymise when no longer needed.

11) Your rights (NZ)

You can request access to and correction of your personal information. To exercise your rights, email hello@carma.co.nz
